Our History
James "Jake" Swaim founded Swaim Ornamental Iron Works, Inc.
in 1950 behind his house.
After establishing the company as Winston-Salem's most trusted and
creative iron fabricator, the company continued to grow and eventually
moved to Waughtown Street in the late 1950s. Don Swaim started helping
his father in the 1950s until he joined the Army. After his service, Don
returned to the family business in 1956.

son, Trent, and daughter, Tandi, strive to maintain the same quality
and dependability that has made the company respected in the
